The Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is a pickup truck manufactured by the Ford Motor Company, is a modified extended cab F-150 truck intended for high speed off road use typically found in the deserts of the southwest United States as well as Baja Mexico. Inspired by the prerunners used by high-dollar off road teams, it brings more than just a name, sticker, and tires for an off road package. Developed by the Special Vehicle Team (SVT) at Ford, the Raptor was used as a test bed for further engineering validation for the new 6.2L V8 as well as the truck itself at the 2008 Baja 1000 where it finished 3rd in class. With 5300 confirmed orders, first year Raptor sales have exceeded 1999's Lightning production numbers.
